A RECIPE FOR SELF-LOVE
Start off with a “10 minute rule”
We can get ourselves so worked up and stressed out some days that we genuinely convince ourselves that we don’t have 5 – 10 minutes to spare. It’s important to create that time to set ourselves up in the best way possible for our next task. Use those minutes to collect your thoughts, take a few deep breaths, breathe in the fresh air, take in the view, meditate if you like, then figure out your next move before you take it.
Add “Just One Thing”
This one is a running theme with Make Me A Plan, if you can face doing nothing else that day, just do one thing. Make the phone call, eat a meal, wash up, anything, no matter how small it may seem, just make sure that you do something rather than nothing.
The mountain is climbed step-by-step and each step takes you closer to the end goal.
A dash of “Fun”
Life is often taken way to seriously. We have targets to hit, goals to reach, houses to run, bills to pay and sometimes ‘life’ gets in the way of living. Say yes to something this week, whatever it is, your friend asking you to go jogging with them (yes, I know you hate running but just say yes and have fun while doing it, fresh air and good company never hurt anyone) your child asking you to play dinosaurs or dress up, get really involved and remind yourself that life doesn’t have to be so serious.
A sprinkling of “Positive Decisions”
Everyday decisions make up your life. Remember to always make the decision that benefits you in the long term. Acting on what you need rather than what you want, loving yourself means sometimes turning away from excitement and adrenaline for something that you need to be strong, centred and on the right path in life.
And the final touch? “Thankfulness”
Today, remind yourself of everything you have to be thankful for.
Don’t let the bad moments overshadow the love you share or the wonderful life you lead.
(as an optional extra you can add a good grind of "Positivity" : make sure you sprinkle it all over and take it to the table to share with your family and friends too!)
