Make Me A Plan Highlights Importance of the National Living Wage

Cornwall-based planning and consultancy company Make Me A Plan has reaffirmed its support for the National Living Wage, highlighting the vital role fair pay plays in building stronger businesses and healthier communities.

Make Me A Plan, which supports individuals and organisations with planning, wellbeing and development services, believes that fair pay should be a core principle of responsible business practice.

Paying a fair wage is not only about meeting legal requirements, it is about recognising the value of people’s time, skills and contribution, and ensuring that work provides security and quality of life.

Hannah Fortey, Make Me A Plan's Promotional Planner commented: "Working with a company that commits to the National Living Wage makes a real difference to me. It reflects MMAP’s commitment to doing the right thing, not just the minimum, and it creates a culture of respect, fairness and genuine support for the people who make the work happen. It feels good to be part of a team where these values are upheld, not just talked about.”

Gemma Mullinger, the business's Performance Planner added:

"I only moved to Cornwall in May 2025, and found it really hard to find suitable employment - not only were most of the jobs seasonal, which wouldn't have given me the security I needed, but they were almost all only paying minimum wage, which is much less than I was used to earning. Being offered a role at Make Me A Plan was like striking gold! A job with duties I would enjoy doing, the ability to work remotely, and most importantly, a company with the most incredible values - including paying the National Living Wage. It really does make such a difference - but this should be commonplace, not a rare find!"

Across Cornwall, where wages have historically been lower than the national average while living costs continue to rise, discussions around fair pay remain particularly important. Businesses, community organisations and policymakers all have a role to play in creating an environment where good work is valued and rewarded.

Make Me A Plan continues to champion ethical and responsible business practices, including paying the National Living Wage, respecting diversity of all kinds, and a commitment to supporting people in building sustainable futures.

By recognising the importance of fair wages and responsible employment practices, organisations can contribute to stronger local economies and more resilient communities.
