Money, to most, holds the belief that with it, we will be happier, wiser, more beautiful etc and it is something that causes significant distress if you don’t have any.

Yet, many tribes thrive with no money at all, there are children and adults in less developed countries that are elated with life, no technology, no houses with all the mod-cons, just being.

Some people are so blinded by financial gains, they don’t take the time to enjoy the smaller things in life. They let their health, family and social life suffer on a quest to get more thinking it is the ‘right’ thing to do.

Instead of valuing material things I am setting a challenge this week to value all the other incredible things in your life;

-          The beautiful sunset you see on your way home from work

-          Your loved one bringing you a cup of tea/coffee

-          The smell of the fresh air in the morning as you first step outside

-          The way your child laughs

Take note of all the wonderful things around you and you’ll see your focus change. You may be more inspired to go down to the beach after work/school instead of heading straight home. You may find that the new tech you thought about buying turned into camping equipment to make memories…

Money holds too much focus over the life we think we want to lead. Get your checks in order (there are always ways to save, even if you feel your money is incredibly tight), put the pennies away, take the trip, I am by no means suggesting that we do not need money to survive, we do.

I am merely opening the door to a new way of thinking about money, do we need to buy that extra coffee/cute top or could we put that money aside to save up for something more soul enriching?

Make Me A Plan would love to hear about your Mindful Finds this week, what did you give up and what did you gain in return?

What is something that really filled you with joy this week?
