ON ANYTHING
With this year’s iconic Oasis reunion (oh yes – this Philosopher-in-Residence did manage to get tickets, thanks for asking), we’ve all been reminded that we are “freeeeeee, to be whatever…”
Whilst we might love evoking memories of Britpop songs and a feeling of insouciance, is this another domain where we don’t always take our own throatily-sung advice?
We know we should
Use our phones less
Be more present
Think before speaking
Eat lots of fruit and vegetables
Breathe
Be whatever we choose
Instead we
Mess up our brains by constantly flicking on notifications
Fail to get the most out of things by allowing our brain to focus on what’s next
React to situations
Open a packet
Tense
Be a shadow of the true self that makes us happy.
Food for thought isn’t it. Which thing are you going to change after reading this today?
Next fortnight I’ll be writing On Eight , in honour of October showing up again. Please get in touch with any particular aspects of this subject you’d like me to write about.
In the meantime,
Happy Planning
